Feeling overworked, annoyed by continual holiday snaps clogging your Instagram and in need of a bit of a treat. Well look no further.
Nothing says pampering more than a top notch facial. A moment of calm where a wonderful expert can get to work honing those pores and polishing off any trace of blackheads, whats not to love?!
The fact is there are so many spas and salons in London on offer, it is hard to know where to start. So I have compiled the ultimate guide of facials I recommend from the most luxurious, to the more unusual, to the affordable for you to help you get a better idea of where to go and what to get. From the uber pampering skin-smoothers to the more hardcore technological treatments that leave you more than a few shaves of skin lighter, these are my pick of the best.
Unlike many hotel spas, which get hidden in the depths of the basement, the Four Seasons spa claims the top floor of their Park Lane Hotel and boasts some of the best views of Hyde Park in the city. Their signature treatments vary, depending on the products used, the most popular being their series of personalised facials. I opted for the Omorivika blue diamond facial: A gentle, yet effective brightening treatment that is aimed at revitalising dull and congested skin. For busy people, in need of a pamper but short on time, Four Seasons are great because they offer a comprehensive all-round series of treatments in one. Whilst having my skin smoothed and cleansed I went for a conditioning Moroccan Oil hair mask, pedicure and shellac removal. In an hour, I got pampered and preened from oiled head to polished toe. My skin was noticeable cleaned, my hair significantly less Hagrid-like and my toes we red and beautifully polished. If thats not a time-effective hour and a half of treatments that I don’t know what is?!
The ESPA spa is nothing if not impressive. With over 15 treatment rooms, a private spa suite, nail studio, indoor swimming pool, vitality pool, amphitheatre sauna, ice fountain, marble heated loungers and blackout sleep pods, its an oasis of tranquility over 4 floors. I oped for the utterly indulgent Destress and Relax Body and Face Treatment. A comprehensive all-round experience that focuses on the back, the face and the scalp. A choice of three different scents are offered for each treatment depending on on whether you want to be energised, relaxed or… sedated? I left undeniably relaxed. My skin was certainly a lot smoother and beautifully cleansed, but equally I think the 2 hours I spend dehydrating myself in the sauna might have equally had something to do with that.
The ‘Results’ Facial: Chelsea Day Spa
This fashionable boutique day spa might not have the imposing presence of a hotel but my oh my does it deliver on results. With two spas dotted between the kings road and chelsea’s world end, this is the place for any west londoners in need of a facial scrub and polish. I went a couple of weeks ago to trial the new O2 Intraceuticals signature facial, created by owner Faye. The treatment was not the comfortable, relaxing experience that I had been led to expect from past treatments, but my oh my did it yield real results. A powerful hour and a half of cleansing, exfoliation, toning, masques and a glycolic peel was finished off with a neck and shoulder massage and a 30 minute skin brightening treatment
The Natural Facial: Being Content
Being Content is one of the pioneering organic skincare stores and beauty salons in London. Located in Marylebone, it offers complementary therapies and wellbeing treatments with only the best, natural products. Not only do they stock one of my favourite brands Pai, but they also offer a specific Pai facial too, which is targeted especially for sensitive skin. I opted for a speedy 30 minute restore and rejuvenate facial. The products used contain beneficial omegas 3, 6, 7 & 9 in Lotus, Perilla and Echium, which worked wonderfully to clear my congested skin and leave me with a dewy complexion. This is the perfect place to pop into if you find yourself in the area between meetings, or to indulge in a lunch break.
If you have any spas/ treatment you really recommend, do let me know. I am still on the hunt for the best/affordable facial treatment in town. Top tips would be most appreciated!
Superfoods are not just worthy of eating, or so I learnt last week. They are now hot ingredients for skincare and beauty regimes too. The K-West Spa is one of the places in London, offering guests and beauty aficionados a carefully created ‘Baobab Feel Good.’ This is a, baobab containing, full body experience including full body exfoliation, facial massage and energising leg therapy, in one sublime relaxing ritual. Superfood treatment from head to toe.
For those that are unfamiliar with the exotic fruit, the African Baobab is rich in nutrients, vitamin c and is thought to have one of the highest antioxidant capacities of any fruit in the world. This treatment is a real celebration of the fruit, an innovative treatment based on getting goodness into their guests at every cost. Treatment also contains a baobab smoothie to slurp on post-treatment, because feeling good certainly starts from within.
