Turmeric has been given a lot of love for its anti-inflammatory properties (as well as other benefits) but it also makes for a mightily fine iced sipple on a hot summers day…
You can serve the same recipe both hot or cold. If you opt for it hot I recommend putting it in a milk frother and making it like a cappucino
Iced Dirty Turmeric Chocolate Latte
SERVINGS: MAKES 1
- 250ml almond milk
- 4 teaspoons finely grated fresh turmeric
- 2 teaspoons date syrup, or maple syrup
- 1 teaspoon finely grated fresh ginger
- 1 teaspoon fresh lemon juice
- a pinch of orange zest
- 2 pinches of ground cardamom
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 tsp cocoa powder
Heat the milk and then add turmeric, ginger, cardamom, and salt. Leave for the flavours to infuse
for 10 minutes. Mix the cocoa with the syrup, and then to the pan with the remaining ingredients.
Strain through a fine-mesh sieve into a measuring cup, pressing on solids to extract juices; discard solids.
Fill a glass with ice. Pour latte over and serve.
